Recently, we bid farewell to senior researcher and speech language therapist Dr Alfonso Igualada from Barcelona, Open University of Catalunya in Spain. Alfonso visited the UQ Centre for Online Health for a six-month sabbatical, thanks to funding provided by the Spanish government to support his international collaboration. His research concentrates on the exploration of factors impacting on telepractice uptake; and the creation of digital health strategies to improve the remote assessment in children with language disorders. During the last six months, Alfonso has enjoyed the opportunity to engage with all staff from the UQ-COH and has also learned about new research methods relevant to virtual care, workforce development, and consumer advocacy. Of course, a visit to Australia would not be complete without experiencing the long drives into the outback, kangaroo sightings in the wild, and up close ‘dinosaur’ sightings (frilled neck lizards) in his garden at home. We will miss Alfonso’s bright personality but look forward to continuing collaborations with Alfonso and his research team in Spain!
